The Red Tea DetoxSKIN PREP

Summer is the perfect time of the year to embrace a little extra dewiness, but that doesn’t mean that we should look greasy and overly shiny. Check out my tips for managing oily skin if excess shine is something you struggle with.

A fail-proof way to prepare the skin is to use fewer products, and apply them in thin layers. Depending on your skin type and preference, you could use a face sunscreen that acts as your UV filter and primer at once. My picks for primers with SPF are:

Coola Face Mineral Sunscreen Unscented Matte Tint SPF 30 for oily skin types Hynt Beauty Sun Prep SPF 25 for normal skin types Suntegrity Natural Moisturizing face Sunscreen & Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 for dry skin types

Make sure to check out my guide to sunscreens for more information on sun protection and detailed sun care product suggestions.

For this look, I applied the Hynt Beauty Sun Prep all over my face. This product works very well under makeup because it is mildly hydrating and moisturizing and it has a luminous finish.

lilly genuine glow, the detox market, summer makeup look COMPLEXION

In summer, less is definitely more when it comes to foundation. Most days, I like to apply only a little concealer here and there, but for this look, I used the ILIA True Skin Serum Foundation in Salina. This foundation works well for evening out the skin tone while still feeling very lightweight and hydrating, without being greasy. It has a natural-looking, skin-like finish that looks great even in broad daylight and offers sheer, but buildable coverage. It gives me that “my skin, but better look”. I added a few dots of W3LL PEOPLE Bio Correct Concealer in Light under my eyes to disguise dark circles and dark inner corners of the eyes, and blended it with my fingers towards my temples.

Using my favorite mattifying powder, the translucent RMS Beauty “Un” Powder, I set the foundation in the areas where I tend to look oily. The velvety finish helps to control shine while giving the skin a soft, smooth look. It never looks cakey, even if I accidentally overdo it, and it helps to extend the longevity of the products applied underneath.

When I want a little more coverage I add a layer of the Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation in Warm 3, a powder foundation that has a lovely semi-matte finish, but does not emphasize dryness or fine lines.

lilly genuine glow, the detox market, summer makeup look CHEEKS

A summery, sun-kissed look calls for a generous layer of bronzer. A swipe of the correct shade of bronzer can give you the warm glow of a restful, carefree day at the beach—even when you just walked out of your office. My current favorite bronzer is the Lily Lolo Pressed Bronzer in the shade Honolulu, which is perfect for light-to-medium skin tones like mine. It’s a medium shade of brown that doesn’t come off as orangey or muddy looking. The same bronzer also comes in a lighter shade that suits more fair complexions, and a darker shade for deeper skin tones. If you are unsure whether a certain color will suit your skin tone, you can take advantage of The Detox Market My Little Sample Bag sample program, which allows you to pick up to 4 samples.

I applied the bronzer along the outer areas of my face—under my cheekbones, on the sides of my temples, and across my nose. I used the Alima Pure Soft Focus Brush, a duo-color fibers face brush that is perfect for gradual application of face powders, blushes and bronzers, which picks up the perfect amount of pigment.

With the same brush, I also applied some blush on the apples of my cheeks. I used the Kosas Pressed Powder Blush in the shade Contrachroma. This is a coral-rosey shade that compliments the bronzer look perfectly.

lilly genuine glow, the detox market, summer makeup look BROWS

On my brows I used the Plume Nourish & Define Brow Pomade in Chestnut Decadence, which has proven to be sweat proof, even during the most hot/humid Florida days, so that I don’t become brow-less midday.

lilly genuine glow, the detox market, summer makeup look EYES

On my eyes, I first applied a thin layer of the ILIA Beauty Natural Brightening Eye Primer, and after blending it well with my finger I used a tiny amount of RMS Beauty UnPowder to set it.

I used a combination of warm shades of brown and gold eyeshadows, including the same blush that I applied on my cheeks. On my eyelids, I applied the Kjaer Weis Eye Shadow in Magnetic, a golden brown with a subtle sheen. Along the crease, and blended upward towards the brow bone, I applied the Sappho eyeshadow in the color Beckitt, a medium, warm brown. Then I added the Kosas Contrachroma blush in the crease to intensify the coral hues of the look. I also applied the Kjaer Weis Magnetic eyeshadow along the lower lash.

Next, I lined my upper lid with the Kjaer Weis Brown Eye Pencil, creating a soft wing that I smudged with the Kjaer Weis Generosity Eye Shadow, a matte, dark, neutral brown color.

I finish the eye look with two coats of the ILIA Limitless Lash Mascara in After Midnight on both upper and lower lashes.

lilly genuine glow, the detox market, summer makeup look LIPS

Nothing compliments a sun-kissed look like a tawny lip. For the daytime, I prefer it to be more on the sheer side, maybe even a little glossy. I like to line my lips with a liner that matches my natural lip color, which for me is the RMS Beauty Lip Liner in Nighttime Nude. I mix a couple of different products to get the exact color I want. For this look I applied the W3LL PEOPLE Bio Bronzer Stick with my finger to add a hint of bronze. Then I patted the W3LL PEOPLE Nudist Lip Butter in the color Nude, which is a warm, peach pink. It is also a very creamy product with moisturizing benefits.

lilly genuine glow, the detox market, summer makeup look THE GLOW

A Summer face look is not complete without a little extra glow. I used the newest shade of the Maya Chia Illuminating Serum called Afternoon Delight to add a sheen to the highest points of my face, including cheekbones, nose bridge, and cupid’s bow.

the perfect pair: natural wine and fragrance pairings with los feliz botanicals
The Red Tea Detox

Natural nose Krystal Quinn Castro of Los Feliz Botanicals worked with Zach Negin, the owner of Tabula Rasa Bar, a cozy East Hollywood spot specializing in natural and biodynamic wines, to create unique scent and wine pairings that mingled, adding depth and nuance to one another for an unparalelled olfactory experience. See their picks below.

Sparkling Moscato d’Asti – Azienda Agricola 499 | Los Feliz Botanicals Blossom Trail

Blossom Trail is a bright, sparkling, citrus and neroli fragrance that floats on a base of green cognac and frankincense, paired here with the only organically certified Moscato in the region of Asti. It’s slightly sweet, slightly sparkling and extremely aromatic.

Malvasia Bianca – Hatton Daniels | Los Feliz Botanicals Huntington

This Malvasia has aromas of lime, kiwi, honeysuckle, clover, and starfruit, with flinty, mineral notes, blending well with Huntington’s sweet florals and earthy agarwood base.

Ode To Lulu – Bedrock | Los Feliz Botanicals Red Rock

A perfume as rare and unique as Red Rock could only be accompanied by a rosé with as much character and nerve as Ode To Lulu. Mineral and acidic, this dry rosé will highlight the arid dreaminess of Red Rock, focused around white sage, rainfall, and smoke.

Love You Bunches – Stolpman Vineyards | Los Feliz Botanicals Los Feliz

This carbonic Sangiovese is made without crushing the grapes. This makes for a fruity, juicy version of Sangiovese that is unexpected and whimsical, bringing attention to the pink grapefruit and bergamot top notes in Los Feliz.

Pinot Grigio Ramato – Franco Terpin | Los Feliz Botanicals Yucca Valley

Yucca Valley is perhaps our boldest perfume, with it’s strong base of leather and tobacco cradling bright roses and sharp black pepper – and could only be paired with an equally serious wine. An unfiltered and unrefined Pinot Grigio, this complex wine is a medium-dark copper color with brilliant floral and citrus notes.

The 21DSD and Breastfeeding: Fast Five for New Moms

The 21-Day Sugar Detox by Diane Sanfilippo
The 21DSD and Breastfeeding: Fast Five for New Moms
The Red Tea Detox

Congratulations! You now have a wonderful little baby who will grow and change before you can blink! If you are breastfeeding, you will want to continue the good eating habits you developed during pregnancy, and you may be ready to cut out the sweets and really focus on getting the best nutrition for your recovering body and for your growing little one.

Are you ready to take the plunge and do a 21DSD? Check out our top five tips and tricks for breastfeeding women.

#1. Is it safe to do a “detox” while breastfeeding?

The 21DSD isn’t a traditional “detox” in which your body sheds toxins which can then transfer to your breastmilk. The purpose of the 21DSD is to regulate your blood sugar, reduce your sugar cravings, and help you create new habits…and it is perfectly safe while breastfeeding. You will be eating real, whole foods that will nourish you and your breastfeeding babe. Many, many new moms have successfully completed a 21DSD while still breastfeeding their babies, and you can, too!

That said, it is advised that you do not begin any kind of eating plan or program that may result in weight loss until after two months postpartum. You should be eating as much as you want/need to so your body can recover from childbirth and so that you and your baby can get used to your new breastfeeding relationship. If you find that you are beginning to lose weight while on the 21DSD, reevaluate how you feel, your milk supply, and the health of your baby before continuing. Your health and the health of your baby are most important.

One more note: the 21DSD takes a significant amount of preparation, both mentally and in terms of shopping for and preparing food. If you are beginning a 21DSD while breastfeeding, make sure that you are able to adequately prepare or that you have someone (partner, spouse, family member, best friend) who can help you be successful.

#2. You’re in? Take it easy!

You are likely very tired, especially in the early months, and you may experience problems with breastfeeding, especially if this is your first baby. If you are having trouble with latch or positioning, consult a lactation consultant or a member of the La Leche League for support and advice. Make sure you get enough rest (the housework really can wait), and enlist the help of family and friends. You may feel that you “should” be able to handle all of the caregiving, cooking, and cleaning tasks (in addition to work duties if you are employed outside the home), but you might still need extra help for as long as you are breastfeeding…and this is okay.

Getting quality rest and nourishment is what your baby and your body need to recover from childbirth and continue in optimal health.

#3. Add some starchy vegetables to each meal.

You will be most successful doing the 21DSD while breastfeeding when you add sufficient activity carbs (starchy, dense carbohydrates) to support your body’s increased need for dense carbohydrates and energy. Your body is working hard to make milk and recover from childbirth—make sure you give it what it needs!

Adding plenty of dense carbohydrates to your meals will keep you well-nourished and help you produce high-quality milk for your newborn. Sweet potatoes, potatoes, pumpkin, acorn or butternut squash, plantains, etc. are starchy vegetables. Add ½ – 1 cup of these dense carbohydrates to each meal; the goal is to add 30–50g starchy carbs to each meal for a total of 90-150g per day. We also recommend that you eat either one green-tipped banana or one green apple each day as well. This will provide some extra carbohydrates and add to the variety of foods you can choose from.

If you are breastfeeding, you need the increased carbohydrates in order to fuel milk production and to give you energy through the day. Your body is working hard and you need to continually replenish the nutrients you have used up in daily activities.

As a busy new mother, be sure to also consider the role that fatigue and sleep play in increasing sugar cravings, disregulating blood sugar and reducing satiety. These factors are another reason that it is vital to be prepared with some quick and easy meal and snack options from the YES foods list (Check out the “Building Your 21DSD Plate” guide on page 22 in The 21 Day-Sugar Detox Daily Guide for quick and easy YES food combinations for when you’re in a rush).

While the 21DSD is not a low- carb eating program, it can become one if you don’t include enough vegetables in your meals. While breastfeeding moms need adequate protein and fat, they also need the nutrients, fiber, and carbohydrates from vegetables (and fruit). People who eat low–carb diets tend to self–restrict calories because they feel satisfied. However, this can cause problems for breastfeeding women who need a certain level of calories in order to maintain adequate weight and provide sufficient nutrients for both mom and baby’s needs. While you may not feel as hungry following a 21DSD eating plan, you still need up to 2,700 calories per day or even more (depending on your height, weight, activity level, and nutritional status). While we don’t advocate counting calories for restrictive reasons, it is especially important for breastfeeding women to consume enough calories on a regular basis to support your needs.

#4. Drink plenty of water.

Keeping hydrated is essential for optimal health and for maintaining a good milk supply. It can also be challenging for new moms who are sleep-deprived and busy with childcare duties. You will want to make sure you are drinking enough fluids, especially water and bone broth, and you can do this by filling up several water bottles or cups and stationing them around your house. Choose places that are easy to access, such as a table near where you typically breastfeed your child or your nightstand. Take sips of water throughout the day to ward off dehydration.

#5. Making milk is hard work—tips for keeping it flowing.

Some women find that their milk decreases when they eliminate grains and legumes and cut back on fruit or other sugary foods. It is important to get enough carbohydrates to support milk production, but if you suspect that you have a lessening supply, try these tips (in this order):

Make sure you are eating enough—you might want to lose that baby weight, but this is not the time to focus on weight loss. A sudden and/or rapid decrease in calories can trigger your body to conserve energy and therefore lead to lower milk production. Also, you might not feel hungry while on the 21DSD if you are eating more protein and fat than you usually do, but you need to make sure you are consuming sufficient calories to support your body’s activities plus milk production. You need 300–500 extra calories a day to keep up your milk supply, so it is vital that you eat enough.

You might also consider this 21DSD-friendly lactation cookie—it is a great snack (and freezes well) even if you aren’t struggling with low supply.

Add even more dense carbs (one more 1⁄2–1 cup serving per day to start and increase if necessary). This is in addition to the modifications above! So if you are already adding in 1⁄2 cup of sweet potato per meal, add in another 1⁄2 cup for a total of 2 cups per day. Make adjustments as needed based on how you feel and how your baby is feeding.

Increase your nursing frequency. Babies go through growth spurts during which they demand more milk, and dietary changes can also influence milk supply. If you find that your baby is hungrier or less satisfied after a feeding, try breastfeeding more frequently or for longer periods of time until your body adjusts to the dietary changes you are making. You can also pump between feedings to try and increase your supply.

Supplement with fenugreek, either with pills or tea. If you think you might want to supplement, consult your doctor or midwife and read this article before you begin taking any. This should be your last resort after you have tried all of the above suggestions.

Are you a breastfeeding woman going through the 21-Day Sugar Detox right now? We wish you success in creating healthy habits, eliminating sugar and carb cravings, and improving your nutrition for your benefit and for the future health of your child.

The Red Tea Detox

facial acupuncture: the self-care I didn’t know I needed

Detox Your Life
facial acupuncture: the self-care I didn’t know I needed
The Red Tea Detox

When I was invited to do a series of facial acupuncture appointments, I’ll admit my first thought was, “I’m too busy to commit to a weekly appointment!” My next thought was, “I’m not getting any younger. What if it works?” See, facial acupuncture has been touted as a botox or facelift alternative. At 34, my first signs of aging are here, and even with a strict skincare regimen, a girl can always use a little more help.

What I didn’t expect from my appointments? Whole body care, stress relief, and a much needed check in with my well-being. Acupuncturist Melissa Tsai, L.AC., explains, “Facial acupuncture can be for any one.” “The idea behind it is to treat the whole body, but with an emphasis on the face. Treatment not only improves muscle tone, but also improves circulation. Since puffiness and redness can make the skin look older, the increased circulation from acupuncture will help. People as young as their mid-20s can start getting treatment for preventative measures.” The needles also target existing lines to stimulate collagen, like a very specific version of micro-needling.

That age-old adage that beauty comes from the inside? That’s never been more true than in Chinese medicine. Melissa says, “Western modalities are great, but they are so specialized now that sometimes they miss the forest for the trees, so there’s an organic need for more holistic medicine—people want a more general way to leverage the body’s natural function to heal, and to stay healthy with lifestyle choices and diet, all of which Chinese Medicine emphasizes and supports.”

“Treatment not only improves muscle tone, but also improves circulation. Since puffiness and redness can make the skin look older, the increased circulation from acupuncture will help.”

Melissa invited me to join her for a series of sessions at her Beverly Hills practice. She recommends 6-10 sessions, once a week, and then once a month after that for maintenance. After changing into a medical gown, I filled out an extensive questionnaire, answered Melissa’s questions about how I was feeling in my body, my specific concerns, and my stress levels.

Each week, after asking a few questions, looking at my tongue, and checking my pulse, she inserted very thin, single-use needles in specific acupuncture points and expression lines. She’d leave me alone to relax with spa-like music playing in a dim room, then returned to follow up with a gorgeous facial treatment using all natural skin care with an ice-cold jade roller or a gua sha tool. After, she would send me home with specific Chinese herbs depending on what was going on with my body.

It just so happened that we started these treatments at a time of very high stress for me. I was dealing with some family issues, and not doing a particularly good job taking care of myself. These sessions became an absolute lifeline. It was like visiting a doctor, nutritionist, therapist, and aesthetician all-in-one. A facial can feel like an indulgence, but this was head-to-toe, individualized care and stress management, with an extra focus on the skin. I left each week feeling lighter and more relaxed—and it showed on my face.

Before (with makeup on), and after (no makeup) 10 sessions of facial acupuncture. The verdict?

This is not a replacement for more invasive treatments, but between the focus on balancing my gut, reducing my anxiety, and stimulating my skin topically, I noticed an overall refreshed, healthy look. I don’t have deep lines to begin with, but the added circulation had an overall plumping effect that softened the appearance of expression lines, smoothed texture, and had a brightening effect on my tone. While not super dramatic, I felt wonderful and started getting lots of compliments on my skin.

Who is it for?

Anyone looking for holistic care with an emphasis on the face.

Who can’t do it?

Facial acupuncture is generally safe for everyone, but to be on the cautionary side, you should avoid it if you:

are pregnant bruise very easily have high blood pressure severe acne have the flu or a cold have chronic headaches or migraines have major medical conditions like cancer or diabetes. (These patients should be evaluated closely and those conditions should be addressed first.) What to look for in a practitioner?

Make sure the practitioner has a license in your state and specializes in facial acupuncture. Melissa adds, ”I think it’s nice to find out what kind of products they use on your face—for instance, do they use anything with synthetic parabens or fragrance? Most of all, you have to feel comfortable with them.”

The 21DSD and Pregnancy: Fast Five for New Moms

The 21-Day Sugar Detox by Diane Sanfilippo
The 21DSD and Pregnancy: Fast Five for New Moms
The Red Tea Detox

Pregnancy is filled with many changes to a woman’s body. This peripartum period is often a time when women begin to reevaluate their diet and lifestyle to provide the best nutrition for their own bodies and those of their growing babies. Issues such as moderate to extreme hormonal changes, sleep deprivation, weight gain, and aches and pains add to women’s concerns and may lead to decisions about diets or dietary changes.

First, let me state that the 21DSD is perfectly safe for pregnant women. The focus is on real, whole food that is nutrient-dense, nourishing, and will provide enough satiety to bring you through this period. That said, are you wondering whether the 21DSD is right for you? Do you have questions about how to successfully complete the 21DSD while pregnant?

Our #21DSDFastFiveforNewMoms will help you rock your 21DSD!

Below you will find the top five tips and tricks for mastering the 21DSD while you are pregnant.

#1. Time it right!

During the first trimester, your body is rapidly changing—you will likely feel extra tired, nauseated, and/or irritable. You may have morning (or all-day) sickness, and you may experience food aversions or sensitivities to food smells, textures, or flavors. You might be ravenous or not feel like eating at all. Because of this wide variety of responses to the changes in your body during early pregnancy, think carefully about whether this is the appropriate time for you to do a 21DSD. If you feel good on most days and have the energy to do the preparation needed to have a successful 21DSD (or a supportive partner/parent/friend who will cook for you), then go for it! Remember to add the dense carbs at each meal and your piece of fruit each day (see below).

However, if you evaluate your life and see that you have many demands (work, older children, family issues, etc.) that divert your attention from self- care, you may want to wait to start your 21DSD until some of the more uncomfortable symptoms of early pregnancy subside. This doesn’t mean you should eat whatever you want or whatever crosses your path! You are growing a tiny human, and your food choices should reflect the nutrient density that will support your own body and that of your growing baby. Refined and artificial sugars of any kind have no place in a pregnancy diet. But this also means fruit may taste much better than vegetables, or that gluten-free crackers are all you really feel like eating. Do your best to eat good foods and don’t stress about the rest.

During the second and third trimester, you are likely feeling more energetic and less nauseated. Whoo-hoo! Now is a great time to begin a 21DSD and form some new habits that can carry you through the end of pregnancy and into the postpartum period. If you haven’t already done so, clean out your refrigerator and pantry of all NO foods and stock up—you’ll want to be prepared with lots of YES foods so that you don’t stray from the program when you are super hungry.

Cooking larger meals, pre-cutting vegetables, and making meals or snacks that can be frozen and easily reheated are invaluable ways to have healthy foods on hand at all times. And don’t get caught without snacks in your car or purse—pack some shelf- stable essentials like nuts/seeds, jerky, and coconut flakes for those on-the-go moments when YES foods aren’t easily accessible and you need something quick.

#2. Add some starchy vegetables to each meal.

You will be most successful doing the 21DSD while pregnant when you add sufficient activity carbs (starchy, dense carbohydrates) to support your body’s increased need for dense carbohydrates and energy.

#3. Make sure you are eating enough.

At some point during your 21DSD you may feel weak, fatigued, dizzy, or just less than your best. You may not be consuming enough calories or eating enough dense carbohydrates. A 21DSD-type eating plan focuses on protein, healthy fats, and vegetables, and while it does not have to be low-carb, you may be unwittingly reducing the amount of carbs you consume. Fat and protein are more satiating, so even if you don’t feel hungry, you may not be getting enough total calories. While you are pregnant, it is especially vital for you to make sure you are eating enough, so if you notice any of those symptoms, increase your total food intake and/or add in more starchy vegetables and see how you feel.

While the 21DSD is not a low-carb eating program, it can become one if you don’t include enough vegetables in your meals. While pregnant moms need adequate protein and fat, they also need the nutrients, fiber, and carbohydrates from vegetables (and fruit). People who eat low–carb diets tend to self–restrict calories because they feel satisfied. However, this can cause problems for pregnant women who need a certain level of calories in order to maintain adequate weight and provide sufficient nutrients for both mom and baby’s needs. While you may not feel as hungry following a 21DSD eating plan, you still need up to 2,700 calories per day or even more (depending on your height, weight, activity level, and nutritional status). While we don’t advocate counting calories for restrictive reasons, it is especially important for pregnant and breastfeeding women to consume enough calories on a regular basis to support your needs.

#4. Focus on building, not on losing.

The 21-Day Sugar Detox is fantastic for reducing cravings, changing habits, and focusing on eating nutrient-dense food, all of which are great goals for pregnancy, but the reality is that many people also lose weight. However, while pregnant, your focus is growing a tiny human; you don’t want to lose weight. Talk with your healthcare provider if you are planning to do a 21DSD so that he/she can help you track your weight and baby’s growth at regular checkups. Remember that you want to build: a strong body and mind for baby, a strong body and mind for you.

#5. Consider your activity.

You may also want to add in or maintain some activity during this time. Walking, yoga, and stretching are fantastic for early pregnancy. These types of activities will keep you moving and energized without overly fatiguing you. However, if you were rocking your CrossFit WODs or running every morning, and you’d like to continue that level of activity through pregnancy, make sure you are adding even more activity carbs to your meals (1/2 – 1 cup more!) to sustain your energy and help your body undergo all the amazing changes of pregnancy. As with any dietary changes, you should talk with your healthcare provider about the activity you plan to start or maintain throughout your pregnancy so that he/she can monitor the health and safety of both you and your baby.

We hope you found these tips and tricks helpful for rocking your 21DSD through pregnancy!

There’s no need to wear foundation from hairline to chin and from ear to ear. Blend in just a couple of drops of the pigment-dense Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation with its companion Air Focus Foundation Brush just over the T-zone to even tone and create a flawless, but breathable finish. Makeup always looks better after it has a few minutes to warm and settle into the skin. Speed up this process with a generous misting of your favorite hydrosol—we used the Herbivore Rose Hibiscus Hydrating Face Mist.

Cheeks

When you wear a matte lip, keep the rest of the face dewy and soft. The Gressa Lumiére Luminous Complexion Fluid in Elise is a vibrant pink, glossy, concentrated color serum. Give the bottle a good shake to disperse the pigment, then dab the tiniest drop onto cheeks patting into the skin to achieve your desired look. You can wear sheer, or build for more color.

Eyes

Not your basic brown— the Gressa Eye Tint in Bronce (rhymes with Beyoncé) is a dreamy bronze with rich copper undertones and a velvety finish. You can apply this with a clean fingertip or a dense brush along the lash line, or all over the eyelid. The intensity will depend on your skin tone and how much you build the color.

Lips

For the pièce de résistance, Clove + Hallow Lip Velvet in Road Trip is the perfect pink. Not too dark, not too light, not too blue, not too warm. A matte lip can show dryness, so if you need to, buff lips first with a lip scrub like ILIA’s Balmy Nights. Bright pink pairs well with bright white, black, or provides a fun contrast to other saturated hues like yellow, orange, and blue.

For a fresh, healthy look, mix a drop of the concentrated Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation with a drop of your favorite face oil (we used Maya Chia The Super Couple), and blend on with your fingertips. Tap a little undiluted foundation on any darkness or imperfections for extra coverage. This formula has a velvet finish, so no need to set with powder unless you are very oily.

Cheeks

The Kosas Color & Light: Creme Blush and Highlighter in Tropic Equinox is like sunshine in a compact, and is effortless to apply. For warmth and a subtle sculpting effect, dot the bronze shade onto the apples of cheeks, up the cheekbones, and onto the temples. Blend by tapping with your fingertips until the color has seamlessly melted into the skin. Next, apply the sheer highlighting cream on the high points of the cheeks, the bridge of the nose, inner corners of eyes, cupid’s bow, and just a little on the center of the chin.

Eyes

Skip brushes and buff the Gressa Eye Tint in Aureo onto eyelids with your fingertip. The golden champagne shade is easy to use, and has a gorgeous brightening effect. For a little added definition, you can use a small brush to wiggle the shade Bronce into the upper and lower lash lines. Finish with the Alima Pure Natural Definition Mascara in Brown to lengthen and sculpt lashes.

Lips

A poppy red lip is the most cheerful summer accessory. Kosas Weightless Lip Color in Thrillest is a universally flattering, orange-infused red that wears like a dream. For extra long wear, swipe on, blot, then add an extra coat. If you accidentally color outside the lines, just dip a cotton bud in moisturizer or micellar water and tidy up. Pair with your favorite sundress, or channel a Hollywood bombshell and wear to the beach. Bisous!
